Thank goodness it's Friday, which means it's time to link up with {av} from {long distance loving} for Friday's Fancies.
Now before you judge me on my Friday's Fancies outfit you should know tonight I'm going to Blake Shelton's concert at the Orange County Fair with my boyfriend! Yes, he deserves as an award for agreeing to go.
I'm beyond excited to go and am secretly hoping that Dia Frampton will open for him, even though it's highly unlikely.
Even though it's the most affordable outfit I've created thus far, I chose this outfit because I wish I'd be able to pull it off successfully but know in reality I never could(and look good at the same time). If I was at least 6 inches taller and had super skinny legs then I'd probably wear this without hesitation.
Alas, I am only 5'1"(...in the morning...) and have athletic runner's legs so this outfit would make me look like a tree stump with a cowboy hat. Not quite the look I go for... But here it is! A girl can dream
^^Don't forget to "like" my outfit! :) ^^
I really love the boots and bag. And you'd probably never catch me in those shorts unless I had twigs for legs. Though you may catch me in the top because I recently purchased from H&M and I'll probably end up wearing it tomorrow night. :)
I'm ready to get my country on! Yeeeeehaww!
I'll post pictures come Monday!
Anyone have any fun weekend plans? Going to any fun concerts this summer?

Interior Barn Doors
When I see sliding interior barn doors it reminds me of my old apartment in San Luis Obispo when I was in college. It brings back good memories :-)
My apartment complex consisted of three level apartments in which the top level was a lofted room. That room was mine complete with ladder and sliding door. And no I never fell off, almost did a few nights though ;-) It was pretty much like the tree-house I always wished I had.
Barn doors inside add something unexpected and are way more interesting that the traditional door with hinges. I'm a sucker for the rustic look of natural wood. But adding a bright color door can liven up a room and make it look more modern.

Wednesday's Pins
Hello my name is Becca. And I'm addicted to Pinterest. Yup, I said it. Are you hooked on it yet? If you're not on it, send me an email and I can invite you since it's by invite only. For those who don't know, Pinterest is pretty much a virtual inspiration board. Instead of saving all your favorite pictures of fashion, interior design, wedding ideas, etc on your computer(taking all your memory like me) you can save it online and see what others are "pinning."
It's Wednesday again which means it's time for the weekly link up with The Vintage Apple for Oh How Pinteresting Wednesdays. It's so hard to just pick a few. But here are my favorites this Wednesday.

Nearly 50
I can't believe I nearly have 50 followers! Who's that lucky number 50 going to be?!
When I googled "50" to find a picture for this post a bunch of pictures of 50 cent popped up too. Lol!

Quinoa & Avocado Salad
I've been using avocados a lot lately because they just scream "summer" to me. So any excuse to use them I'll take it. Also I've been cooking with quinoa a lot because my mom is gluten intolerant. It is really tasty and has a good texture. If you haven't tried it yet then I highly recommend it.
One of my favorite quinoa dishes is a quinoa & avocado salad which I found the recipe for in Fine Cooking. It is really easy to make too. Just get organized before you start.
Ingredients:
3 Tbs raisins(pref a mix of dark&golden but it really doesn't matter I've used both)
2 Tbs dried apricots, thinly sliced
1 cup red or white quinoa(I've only used white)
salt
1 large lemon
3 Tbs extra-virgin olive oil
1/4 tsp. ground coriander
1/4 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 sweet paprika(I use regular paprika)
2 medium ripe avocados, cut into chunks
2 medium scallions, white and green parts, thinly sliced
2-3 Tbs chopped toasted almonds
ground pepper
In medium bowl, soak raisins and apricopts in hot water for 5 mins. Drain and set aside
In a 2-quart saucepan, bring 2 cups water, quinoa, and 1/2 tsp salt to boil over high heat. Cover, reduce heat to medium low, and simmer until water is absorbed and quinoa is translucent and tender(about 10-15 mins). Immediately fluff quinoa with a fork and let to cook to about room temp(you can turn it out onto a baking sheet for it to cool quicker).
Finely grate zest from lemon and squeese 1 Tbs juice. In small bowl whisk lemon juice, zest, olive oil, coriander, cumin, paprika, and 1/4 tsp salt. In large bowl, toss the vinaigrette with quinoa, raisins, apricots, avocado, scallions, and almonds. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
This is what it's supposed to look like, with the red quinoa.
Mine doesn't look quite as good but it tastes fabulous! I just need to learn to take pictures with a real camera besides my iPhone.

Guest Post at {henning love}
Hi everyone! Today is a super exciting day for me because I'm doing my first ever guest post. I'm helping out Meg from henning love while she's on vacation. She is so sweet and one of the first people to really pay attention to my blog. And I'm so happy to call her my blogger friend :)
Since she is on a cruise with her hubby, I decided to draw some inspiration for my guest post. So I got to thinking, what would I do on a cruise? And what would I wear? Well obviously I'd soak up the sun, go exploring, and put on something pretty for formal night. That's when the light bulb went off! I went straight to Polyvore to make some dream cruise outfits for each of those occasions.
But first here are some pictures to get you in the cruising mood!

So please stop over and take a look that the ensembles I created at Meg's blog! Weekend Recap!
This past weekend was nice and relaxing. I'm trying to enjoy as many of them as I can before school starts and then my weekends will consist of studying a bunch and trying to keep my sanity.
On a hunt at night for the perfect dessert my boyfriend and I decided to stop by one of our favorite restaurants Lazy Dog Cafe. It happened to be happy hour so we decided to get some drinks at the bar.
The boyfriend got some pizza and we shared a dessert which of course I forgot to take a picture of! I was working on my 2nd pink lemonade drop martini...oops! It was chocolaty and peanut buttery though! It was pretty fun people watching and talking to others at the bar who were also people watching.
Saturday I did some shopping with mom, we didn't get anything exciting enough to report though. After that I waited for my man to get back from work so we could do "Cheeseburger Saturday."
Yup, you read right Cheeseburger Saturday! I eat pretty well during the week but during the weekend I need at least one greasy meal complete with french fries. So we went to In 'N Out. It did not disappoint.
Then on Sunday I putz around the house for most of the day and made some cookies. Bethenny Frankel's Oatmeal Banana Chocolate Chip cookies. I've made them a few times and they are just sooooo good! Also, healthy and filling! I also have come to the conclusion that all the cookies I make look like turds when photographed but they taste delicious! These are a must try!
Did you do anything fun this past weekend? Was it a relaxing weekend or super busy?

Happy Sunday
Here is something to hopefully make your Sunday even better. Let me introduce you to my handsome boxer dog, Maxwell. Max for short.
He has brought so much joy and laughter into our household. Dogs have a way of doing it and for us Boxers make us smile even more.

Little White-ish Dress
Hi all, this is my second week linking up with {av} over at {long distance loving} for Friday's Fancies. I'm really loving creating my dream outfits which I would buy in a heart beat if I was rolling in the dough. Sigh, but I'm not so Polyvore will do for now.
This week's theme is "Little White Dress" which is a perfect summer alternative to the LBD. Although I must admit, I don't wear white. Whenever I do some stain always ends up on my pretty white whatever it is. For me white is a magnet for spills and stains so I rarely buy white clothes.
The only white dress I've bought was for my Sorority's ritual events. And the next white dress I buy will probably be my wedding dress but I will be armed with quick stain fighters that wedding planners have in their arsenal.
For this Friday's Fancies I looked for a perfect white dress but none spoke to me except this DVF one. Granted it's not completely white but it came up on the search when I clicked the white color option so it works. I saw it and fell in love.
I want it in my closet NOW! Too bad I spent a fortune on books for school(about $575 and still have 4 more to buy :'-[ ). If it wasn't for it being my dream school for my dream profession, I'd have a problem.
And since I'm dreaming here I paired the dress with the ever coveted Hermes Birkin bag. Don't bother going into a store to look at one because they won't let you touch it(I know because my mom asked to see one). You can only admire it while it sits on the top shelf. And if you're really serious you can order one. I'm not sure if I really want one or not but I'd love to have the money to buy one. Sigh.

Bunkbed envy
When I was a kid I reallllly wanted a bunk bed. Though as an only child I knew it was hopeless to even ask so I always loved going to a friend's house especially if they had bunch beds! Even if they were super cheap metal ones it was still a highlight. Now that Pinterest is in my life I've seen so many fabulous bunk beds! If these were around when I was a kid, it would have made my life.
All images via Pinterest
Who knew bunch beds could be so stylish either?!
Maybe my future children will have the pleasure to enjoy bunk beds. But only if they are as stylish as these ones. Well, hopefully they will be at least almost as cool as these.

Newport Afternoon
While waiting for some forms to be signed in Newport Beach last week I decided to kill some time at Fashion Island and Roger's Gardens.
I meandered around Fashion Island, browsing in the shops, and had a nice lunch outside. The weather was perfect and it wasn't too crowded yet.
Afterwards I went up the street to Roger's Gardens. My mom loves this place but I had never been. I was probably the youngest person there too. Here are some pictures of my favorite stuff I found there!
If your into gardening or flower arrangements, this is the place to go. So many pretty things. Apparently it's B-E-A-U-TIFUL at Christmas time.
Tonight I'm going wine tasting with my man and another couple to Laguna Canyon Winery. There was a special on Groupon that we bought a while ago so that should be fun! Will post about that later!

pinteresting wednesdays
Happy Wednesday! Friday is almost here!!
This is my second time linking up with Vintage Apple for Oh How Pinteresting Wednesdays. Again, no real theme. It's hard not to load all my pins to the blog. But if I did that it would be just easier to follow me on Pinterest. :-p
