6 Years and Friday's Fancies!

TGIF Everyone!!

Today is a very special day for me because it is my 6th year anniversary with my boyfriend! Yup 6 years! I can't really believe it either. We've been dating since high school and all through college.
back in high school
So after school we are going out to dinner at Duke's Huntington Beach. Dukes is a really nice restaurant which we both went to in Honolulu a year ago and loved it so we are going to try one closer. Of course we'd much rather go to Hawaii but we'll have to wait on that one :-p
I really can't image my life without him and love the relationship that we have made and can't wait to see what our future together holds. Hopefully a ring soon... **cough cough**

So in honor of our date night tonight, my Friday's Fancies outfit linking up with {av} from {longdistanceloving} is based off of what kind of outfit I wish I had in my wardrobe.
happy Anniversary

I know this outfit is more of a summer outfit but the weather has been nice in Orange County this week so this will do! And the restaurant is on the beach so I'm trying to channel the island theme since I'll be Hawaii. lol.

The outfit puts together one of my favorite color combos and I love the shoes. I do wish I found a suitable belt for the outfit but none that I saw on Polyvore was a perfect fit to me.

What are you all up to this weekend?! Any specially plans?

Blake Shelton concert!!

Thank goodness it's Friday, which means it's time to link up with {av} from {long distance loving} for Friday's Fancies.

Now before you judge me on my Friday's Fancies outfit you should know tonight I'm going to Blake Shelton's concert at the Orange County Fair with my boyfriend! Yes, he deserves as an award for agreeing to go.

I'm beyond excited to go and am secretly hoping that Dia Frampton will open for him, even though it's highly unlikely.

Even though it's the most affordable outfit I've created thus far, I chose this outfit because I wish I'd be able to pull it off successfully but know in reality I never could(and look good at the same time). If I was at least 6 inches taller and had super skinny legs then I'd probably wear this without hesitation.

Alas, I am only 5'1"(...in the morning...) and have athletic runner's legs so this outfit would make me look like a tree stump with a cowboy hat. Not quite the look I go for... But here it is! A girl can dream

^^Don't forget to "like" my outfit! :) ^^

I really love the boots and bag. And you'd probably never catch me in those shorts unless I had twigs for legs. Though you may catch me in the top because I recently purchased from H&M and I'll probably end up wearing it tomorrow night. :)

I'm ready to get my country on! Yeeeeehaww!

I'll post pictures come Monday!

Anyone have any fun weekend plans? Going to any fun concerts this summer?

Guest Post at {henning love}

Hi everyone! Today is a super exciting day for me because I'm doing my first ever guest post. I'm helping out Meg from henning love while she's on vacation. She is so sweet and one of the first people to really pay attention to my blog. And I'm so happy to call her my blogger friend :)

Since she is on a cruise with her hubby, I decided to draw some inspiration for my guest post. So I got to thinking, what would I do on a cruise? And what would I wear? Well obviously I'd soak up the sun, go exploring, and put on something pretty for formal night. That's when the light bulb went off! I went straight to Polyvore to make some dream cruise outfits for each of those occasions.

But first here are some pictures to get you in the cruising mood!

Friday's Fancies: All that glitters...

All that Glitters

...needs to be in my closet! ASAP!
This is my first time linking up to Friday's Fancies with {av} at {long distance loving}. And I'd really fancy wearing this little number to a fancy-schmancy cocktail party or gala event.

I fell in love with the dress from the moment I saw it. Neutrals paired with little pops of bright colors get me every time.

Besides the dress (& the Loubs ofcourse) I really like the clutch. There's no need to debate with yourself about the perfect rings to wear because they are included on the clutch.

I don't know about you all but those are the most glamorous brass-knuckles I've ever seen.

4th of July

4th of July

With the holiday weekend coming up, what is there better to do after a date night with the man but get creative with outfits on Polyvore? I couldn't decide what kind of 4th attire would be the best so I made two! One of a relaxing family BBQ(my grandpa's birthday is the 4th) and one for going out with friends at night to celebrate! I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to take a Chanel purse into a bar but hey, if money wasn't an issue maybe some day I will(crossing my fingers).

For the BBQ outfit I chose lace shorts. These are really out of the box for me but they really caught my attention and looked like fun. I like how the combined textures of the shirt and shorts worked.

What are on your agendas for the weekend? Whatever your plans are for the weekend have fun and be safe!!

Suit Up: Tribal Style

Suit Up: Tribal Style

It's finally officially summer and in my mind that means a couple things: pools, beaches, tanning, sunshine, and barbeques. All of which for me involve wearing a swim suit. Tribal suits have really been calling to me this season. I'm drawn to the colors and the laid back vibe the suits give off. The prints all intriguing because they aren't overpowering but are still interesting.

My favorites are the middle orange bandeau with the fringe and the top left top. I wish I could have found matching bottoms but it could easily be paired with a solid black, peach, or pink bottom.

Down by the Sea

June Gloom is in full force here in Southern California. Even though it's pretty cold in the morning and warm when the sun finally makes its appearance(if it does) during the day there is no excuse to not have a summery, beach inspired look. Beach and summer items for me a stripes, espadrilles, and woven clutches. And even though I'd love to wear shorts, right now I will have to settle for cropped jeans to stay warm.

I used to really shy away from anything with horizontal stripes until this past year. I'm learning that if done correctly you don't have to be a twig to make them look good on you. So I've paired the striped shirt with cropped jeans and sky high heels that I love(and actually own). The Nine West shoes are actually 5&1/2 inches but the platform is so high as well that your feet don't hurt after all day wearing them. The clutch adds another little pop of color that I love.
A good pair of aviators exudes 'cool' effortless style.  I have yet to find a pair that looks good on and that doesn't make me look sad by taking over my face. If anyone has suggestions for where to find a pair for people with small faces plllllease let me know!
I considered adding a flowy scarf but couldn't find the right one.

desert chic

This is my first attempt at using Polyvore. I just threw some things together and published them, didn't think they'd show up on my blog RIGHT AWAY haha...oops. If anyone has some polyvore tips I will gladly take accept them! Like how to create the blog post first before adding the polyvore? Or how to get the polyvore to include your blog so when you publish it then the blog is combined right away?

Lately I've been really digging outfits that look Native American/desert inspired. They seem perfect for summer because it can be done casually and doesn't have to be "perfect. I fell in love with this shirt and have been wanted a cool Hobo crossbody bag for a while. I've traditionally been a shoulder-bag-kind-of-girl but I'm getting more of an open mind to different bags these day.
