6 Years and Friday's Fancies!

TGIF Everyone!!

Today is a very special day for me because it is my 6th year anniversary with my boyfriend! Yup 6 years! I can't really believe it either. We've been dating since high school and all through college.
back in high school
So after school we are going out to dinner at Duke's Huntington Beach. Dukes is a really nice restaurant which we both went to in Honolulu a year ago and loved it so we are going to try one closer. Of course we'd much rather go to Hawaii but we'll have to wait on that one :-p
I really can't image my life without him and love the relationship that we have made and can't wait to see what our future together holds. Hopefully a ring soon... **cough cough**

So in honor of our date night tonight, my Friday's Fancies outfit linking up with {av} from {longdistanceloving} is based off of what kind of outfit I wish I had in my wardrobe.
happy Anniversary

I know this outfit is more of a summer outfit but the weather has been nice in Orange County this week so this will do! And the restaurant is on the beach so I'm trying to channel the island theme since I'll be Hawaii. lol.

The outfit puts together one of my favorite color combos and I love the shoes. I do wish I found a suitable belt for the outfit but none that I saw on Polyvore was a perfect fit to me.

What are you all up to this weekend?! Any specially plans?

Friday's Fancies: Game Day Chic

Happy Friday everyone!! We made it another week! Can you believe half of September is gone already?!

Today I'm linking up with {av} at {long distance loving} again for Friday's Fancies. This week's theme is game day chic! Normally I wouldn't get too excited about this theme, since I'm not a football fan(**gasp**) but now that I go to a school with a decent team I actually know a thing or two. Just only 1 thing or 2, that's it!

Now, I know USC is in trouble with NCAA and we don't have any bowl games this year (that's the 1st thing I know) but it's still better than Cal Poly's team! And we won the past two home games(that's the 2nd thing I know).

So in honor of a decent team here is my outfit of the week. I know it's not crazy with USC pride but if I went to a game I wouldn't paint my face or anything so this outfit actually fits what I would wear.

USC

I need to invest in some Trojan gear and buy those shoes while I'm at it. I think the shoes and scarf dress up the outfit a little.

Are you a big football fan? Who's your favorite team?

TGIF!!

Thank goodness it's finally Friday!! This week has sure been long! Has it been the same for you? I don't think I could be more excited that it's Friday! Yay Friday!

I've been very thankful for being active in blogging during school because it's really given me an outlet for creativity because I feel like I'm bombarded with science all day long. Not that it's a bad thing, and I really like what I'm learning but I like to stare at clothes and DIY projects online from time to time instead of a cadaver's bootayyy!

So to get my creative juices flowing I modeled this week's Friday's Fancies after the outfit below.
military jacket
What drew me to the outfit was the contrast between the masculine military jacket and the femininity of the poofy skirt. Put those two together and BAM! It's Fashion!

I really really want this outfit! I think the key is a well made jacket. For Christmas my mom got a military jacket from H&M which was cute, but not well made. It didn't fit well, hang well, or have any structure so I returned it. If it was like the one above, that would be a different story.

I think the shoes are also an interesting choice because they wouldn't seem like they'd work to me but once I had the outfit put together I couldn't think of any other type of shoe.

I am at a loss for what accessories though. I couldn't find a purse or even jewelry that I liked with the outfit. A nice gold watch would be nice, but not too big like those massive watches out there.

Onto another topic...Anyone effected by the massive power outage in Southern California and Arizona? Some power was out in the lower half of Orange County but stopped right before my town. Phheewssh! I was afraid I'd be stranded on the train somewhere. Hopefully I'll be able to get on the train tomorrow morning for school or else I'll have to drive. The drive there isn't bad but I don't want to drive home from LA at 5pm on a Friday...

Any plans for the weekend?! So far mine aren't too exciting but I think next weekend will be better. I'm planning on going to my first tailgate with the USC DPT department! Should be fun after a long week of school.

Hooray for a Long Weekend!!

Another week has come to an end! And luckily the end of this week brings an long weekend!! I don't have school Monday!! Yippee! 3 days of sleeping in for me :)

I know it's totally shallow to be excited for a holiday for the sake of no school but just admit it you were too!

So in honor of labor day, I'm linking up again for Friday's Fancies and created an end of summer outfit! I really wish I could be rocking this look at the beach somewhere but in reality I'll probably studying somewhere. Boo! :(
Friday's Fancies

This should come as no surprise to you that I picked this color combo. It screams summer and ocean breezes. I love the flowyness of the top and the turquoise stones on the shoes and ring. A bit matchy matchy but I like it :) Then with the clutch and straw fedora...*sigh*

In other news, my mom broke her tibia and fibula on Thursday from tripping in super unstable heels. I've told her not to wear these particular heels because she doesn't know how to walk in them. Luckily for me, I learned how to teach people how to walk with crutches in school last week so she will be my practice patient for a while. She will be seeing an orthopedist in the morning so we'll see what the verdict is.

I know this picture isn't the greatest but you can see a thin dark line in the left bone(Tibia) and there is another similar line on the right bone(fibula) that is harder to see with this picture(it's a picture of a photocopied x-ray).

What are you doing this long weekend? Any fun plans? Don't wear huge heels whatever you do!

Friday's Fancies + White Coat

Hellooooo everyone!

I'm back in the blogging business after a little break for school! I'd like to thank my good friends Ruthie, Meg, and Hollie for helping me out the past few days! It's so great to have such amazing friends via the blogiverse.

School has been going well and it is definitely an adjustment! I don't remember undergrad being so exhausting...but then again I didn't have 4 hour lectures either. I'm meeting a lot of people and being pretty overwhelmed by the volume of information that needs to get into my brain...and actually stay there unlike undergrad!

I've been missing blogging more than I thought I would. I feel deprived that I can't check out everyone's blog like I used to but will make it a mission on the weekend to try to catch up so please forgive me if you haven't seen any comments from me lately. Does any one have any suggestions for how to balance blogging and school? lol

Alright, now to the good stuff! As usual, it's Friday's Fancies time over here! This week the theme is Weddings!! I loooove weddings and even helped out at a few weddings as a wedding planner's assistant. For this week, since I don't have any close friends getting married any time soon I decided to base my outfit around being a wedding guest.

Wedding Guest

I really love this burnt orange color paired with the jade colored jewelry. Jade is just so pretty and I wish I had more of it though Mom has a ton!! Did you know that jade is supposed to have protective powers? But I digress...

I really think adding the white purse and shoes makes the outfit a little more crisp and clean. Even though wearing white at a wedding is a no-go, shoes and purses should work fine, right? Right?

Onto other news. Yesterday my school's Doctor of Physical Therapy program had the White Coat Ceremony where the newbies, like me, get our super sweet white coats. The ceremony is supposed to symbolize our transition into the physical therapy profession now and not just when we graduate. So I have a cool new white coat!
Ooooohhhh yeahhhhh!
Me and the boyfriend before the ceremony :)
The parents!

With my schnazzy new coat! Fight On!!

So professional right?!
It was pretty cool to have a ceremony at the beginning of a school program rather than just at the end. The ceremony got all of us even more stoked for what is a head of us, and slightly terrified at the same time. The next three years will be long and challenging but I'm still excited to get closer to becoming a PT.

For the weekend I plan on exercising(since I only did once this week) and hitting the books. Exciting right?

What are your plans for the weekend?! I hope your doing something more fun than I am! :-p

Friday's Fancies: 1st day of School

This Friday's Fancies is totally perfect for me this week! The theme is "Back to School Best" and as many of you know, I also went back to school yesterday! If I had the wardrobe that Polyvore does then this is what I would probably wear...
too cool for school

I wanted to go for something casual but put together. Nothing really over the top. I paired neutrals with my fav color for some fun. And instead of a backpack which I will undoubtedly end up using eventually, I put in a giant tote for notebooks and such.

I'm thinking I need to invest in some Sperry's. They are pretty cool! And I really want those Oakley's. That pair is actually the only kind of aviator that looks good on my face. All but those that I've tried on make me look sad because they come down too far. They are definitely on my Christmas list and the bf is well aware.

For my first day of school I wish I could wear something like this but unfortunately my go-to jeans(all 3 of them) wear being hemmed. It's about time though and it got up to 86 on campus so maybe it's best I couldn't wear them.

I took a picture of what I wore the first day of school but I haven't mastered taking pictures of myself in a mirror so they didn't turn out well. And 6am isn't my finest hour when it comes to handling technology. I'll update everyone soon about how orientation went!

Friday's Fancies: Seeing Red

It's finally Friday again! I hope everyone's week went well and that you're excited for another Friday's Fancies with {av} from {long distance loving}. This week's theme is all about RED. I really do love this color so this week's theme was easy for me. I wanted to push my proverbial 'envelope' but once I saw this dress I couldn't not use it. Maybe next week I'll go out of my comfort zone again...

seeing red

Does anyone else think of Pippa Middleton's dress from her sis's wedding when looking at this red number?

Every girl should have a LBD but for me a LRD(little red dress) is my go-to dress. Maybe it's my blonde hair and skin tone but a bright red just works for me. And since the theme is red, I of course had to use Loubs for shoes with the signature red bottoms.

A pretty red outfit just aches to be paired with gold jewelry/accessories. I use a lot of gold when on Polyvore but in real life I wear more silver. Once I get a nice gold watch then I think that will change, since I only have a silver one right now.

I'm pretty excited for this weekend because I'm going on my first ever blate(blog date)!! Meg from henning love and I are going to meet for lunch and maybe some shopping? I couldn't be more excited to officially 'meet' her! Tune in Monday for pictures!

Doing anything fun this weekend?

Friday's Fancies: "MAXImized"

Hooray! It's Friday again! Time for another installment of Friday's Fancies linking up with {av} from {long distance loving}. This week the theme is all about Maxi dresses or skirts.

I have to admit I had a hard time making this week's outfit but I was determined to make one while sticking to the theme. Given my lack of height, I normally don't wear maxis but I'm learning to step outside my comfort zone. Mainly because at Nordstrom a few months ago I was looking for summer dresses and I had the best sales lady I've ever had there! She pulled a bunch of dresses while I was browsing and paired them with belts and such. I ended up buying a maxi that I never would have tried on if she hadn't pulled it. Now I'm becoming a maxi believer.

MAXImized

Don't you love this dress? It's so light and airy. Perfect for summer fun!

I have yet to add more maxis to my wardrobe but I'm planning on getting more. I wanted to buy one last week but had to save money for school stuff. Lame!! Though when I do get more maxi you better believe I will be pairing them with sky high heels!

That's when my 5" NineWest wedges come to the rescue. That way I look taller and don't have to hem them haha!

Anyone doing anything fun this weekend?

So far I have no big plans but I do want to start adding more miles to my runs for my 3rd half marathon in October. I have a really hard time getting up early to beat the heat though so I end up having to run later in the day.  It's still pretty hot around 5:30. Maybe I'll have more luck Saturday or Sunday.

Blake Shelton concert!!

Thank goodness it's Friday, which means it's time to link up with {av} from {long distance loving} for Friday's Fancies.

Now before you judge me on my Friday's Fancies outfit you should know tonight I'm going to Blake Shelton's concert at the Orange County Fair with my boyfriend! Yes, he deserves as an award for agreeing to go.

I'm beyond excited to go and am secretly hoping that Dia Frampton will open for him, even though it's highly unlikely.

Even though it's the most affordable outfit I've created thus far, I chose this outfit because I wish I'd be able to pull it off successfully but know in reality I never could(and look good at the same time). If I was at least 6 inches taller and had super skinny legs then I'd probably wear this without hesitation.

Alas, I am only 5'1"(...in the morning...) and have athletic runner's legs so this outfit would make me look like a tree stump with a cowboy hat. Not quite the look I go for... But here it is! A girl can dream

Blake Shelton concert

^^Don't forget to "like" my outfit! :) ^^

I really love the boots and bag. And you'd probably never catch me in those shorts unless I had twigs for legs. Though you may catch me in the top because I recently purchased from H&M and I'll probably end up wearing it tomorrow night. :)

I'm ready to get my country on! Yeeeeehaww!

I'll post pictures come Monday!

Anyone have any fun weekend plans? Going to any fun concerts this summer?

Little White-ish Dress

Hi all, this is my second week linking up with {av} over at {long distance loving} for Friday's Fancies. I'm really loving creating my dream outfits which I would buy in a heart beat if I was rolling in the dough. Sigh, but I'm not so Polyvore will do for now.

This week's theme is "Little White Dress" which is a perfect summer alternative to the LBD. Although I must admit, I don't wear white. Whenever I do some stain always ends up on my pretty white whatever it is.  For me white is a magnet for spills and stains so I rarely buy white clothes.

The only white dress I've bought was for my Sorority's ritual events. And the next white dress I buy will probably be my wedding dress but I will be armed with quick stain fighters that wedding planners have in their arsenal.
Little White-ish Dress

For this Friday's Fancies I looked for a perfect white dress but none spoke to me except this DVF one. Granted it's not completely white but it came up on the search when I clicked the white color option so it works. I saw it and fell in love.

I want it in my closet NOW! Too bad I spent a fortune on books for school(about $575 and still have 4 more to buy :'-[ ). If it wasn't for it being my dream school for my dream profession, I'd have a problem.

And since I'm dreaming here I paired the dress with the ever coveted Hermes Birkin bag. Don't bother going into a store to look at one because they won't let you touch it(I know because my mom asked to see one). You can only admire it while it sits on the top shelf. And if you're really serious you can order one. I'm not sure if I really want one or not but I'd love to have the money to buy one. Sigh.

^^Don't forget to "Like" my link!^^

Friday's Fancies: All that glitters...

All that Glitters

...needs to be in my closet! ASAP!
This is my first time linking up to Friday's Fancies with {av} at {long distance loving}. And I'd really fancy wearing this little number to a fancy-schmancy cocktail party or gala event.

I fell in love with the dress from the moment I saw it. Neutrals paired with little pops of bright colors get me every time.

Besides the dress (& the Loubs ofcourse) I really like the clutch. There's no need to debate with yourself about the perfect rings to wear because they are included on the clutch.

I don't know about you all but those are the most glamorous brass-knuckles I've ever seen.
