Guest Post at {henning love}

Hi everyone! Today is a super exciting day for me because I'm doing my first ever guest post. I'm helping out Meg from henning love while she's on vacation. She is so sweet and one of the first people to really pay attention to my blog. And I'm so happy to call her my blogger friend :)

Since she is on a cruise with her hubby, I decided to draw some inspiration for my guest post. So I got to thinking, what would I do on a cruise? And what would I wear? Well obviously I'd soak up the sun, go exploring, and put on something pretty for formal night. That's when the light bulb went off! I went straight to Polyvore to make some dream cruise outfits for each of those occasions.

But first here are some pictures to get you in the cruising mood!

SLO recap!

Here is a recap for you on my quick trip to San Luis Obispo from the Thursday and Friday. Mom and I went up to visit my old college town with strict objectives to shop and eat great food. It was a successful trip to say the least. More on my shopping here.

Our hotel. Petit Soleil.
We got into SLO and checked into the cutest bed & breakfast EVER! If you ever stay in San Luis Obispo, try to stay here! It's European inspired and you just won't want to leave.

If love the sink!
Next we headed to Farmers market for dinner and shopping! We ate at a favorite natural foods restaurant called Big Sky Cafe. YUM! I had the vegetarian spring rolls and green pea risotto.
After shopping and Farmers I had to have some Bali's frozen yogurt.

The next morning we had breakfast at out hotel. The served fresh baked pastries and choices of 2 specials. The Spinach& Bacon strata and and Grand Marnier French Toast(I only asked for one slice). SOOOOOO good! I'm going to try to recreate the toast someday!

Next, I had to go to my favorite coffee shop downtown before departing at West End Espresso& Tea.
West End Espresso& Tea. Chai Latte
And for the grand finale, FIRESTONE GRILL! We ate lunch here and then departed. Famous for their tri tip sandwich and french fries. The fries are so good that we actually brought leftovers home for my boyfriend because he was jealous of us. Best girlfriend of the year award?!

Kids Cheeseburger and Fries. The picture does not do it justice.

SLO bound

Today Mom and I are taking a short but much needed girls trip to San Luis Obispo(SLO)! I'm pretty excited to go back to my old stomping grounds since I haven't been there since my last day of college nearly a year ago. Even though it's only for 2 days we will be sure to hit all of my favorite restaurants and shops in downtown SLO. Sometimes its just good to get a mini vacation, even if it's a real mini one.
This past year San Luis Obispo was named one of the happiest places in the nation. And if you've ever been you can see why. It has such a great vibe and was a great place to go to school! And since it's Thursday night when we get there, Farmer's Market will be happening! Yay! 3 blocks of the main street downtown gets closed for all the farmers and vendors to sell their products. And the products are delicious!

Hawaiian Dreams

Lately I've been thinking about Hawaii a lot. And I mean A LOT! I'm seriously craving Hawaii so much right now I feel like I might burst. Yes, it's that bad...
Last August my family and boyfriend took a trip to Oahu for a family friend's wedding and we had the time of our lives. Yes, any time in Hawaii is amazing but this trip was the best.
The brilliant turquoise water, amazing weather, gorgeous beaches! Waimea Bay is by far my favorite beach ever. I'd love to go back even for a few hours of floating in the water and resting on the sand! Sometimes I check a surf report app on my Iphone just to see what its like at Waimea; I'm not a surfer but I want to know the water temp and air temp.
And there is nothing like Matsumoto's shaved ice in Haleiwa, North Shore. Drooling now. Here are some more pictures from last year's trip!

It is a fabulous hotel! I highly recommend it!

Bye bye Hawaii :-(
Sadly I don't know when I will be able to go back again mainly because Grad School is pretty pricey but I will keep dreaming of Hawaii and the beaches.

What's your favorite vacation spot? Anyone going on any exciting trips this summer?

Vacation

Before I start school again Aaron and I decided that we should take a trip/vacation together. After all, I'll be consumed with school for the next three years and won't have much of a life outside of studying. So far we have thought of three possible destinations:
  1. Las Vegas- It's only 4 hours away and we can get rooms for decent prices and won't have to travel far to find entertainment.
  2. Catalina- It's $66 round trip for the Boat ride to Avalon though since there are limited number of hotels there but decent enough for being close to the beach and we wouldn't have to rent a car or anything. Lots to do like hiking, snorkeling, or sun bathing. The night life is supposed to be decent too.
  3. San Diego- It is close and there is a lot to do down there. We'd save money on gas and could probably find a decently priced hotel close to the beach or wherever we'd want to be.
If anyone has any suggestions on where to stay, what to do, or even maybe somewhere else we should take a trip to I'd really appreciate it! :-)
