6 Years and Friday's Fancies!

TGIF Everyone!!

Today is a very special day for me because it is my 6th year anniversary with my boyfriend! Yup 6 years! I can't really believe it either. We've been dating since high school and all through college.
back in high school
So after school we are going out to dinner at Duke's Huntington Beach. Dukes is a really nice restaurant which we both went to in Honolulu a year ago and loved it so we are going to try one closer. Of course we'd much rather go to Hawaii but we'll have to wait on that one :-p
I really can't image my life without him and love the relationship that we have made and can't wait to see what our future together holds. Hopefully a ring soon... **cough cough**

So in honor of our date night tonight, my Friday's Fancies outfit linking up with {av} from {longdistanceloving} is based off of what kind of outfit I wish I had in my wardrobe.
happy Anniversary

I know this outfit is more of a summer outfit but the weather has been nice in Orange County this week so this will do! And the restaurant is on the beach so I'm trying to channel the island theme since I'll be Hawaii. lol.

The outfit puts together one of my favorite color combos and I love the shoes. I do wish I found a suitable belt for the outfit but none that I saw on Polyvore was a perfect fit to me.

What are you all up to this weekend?! Any specially plans?

Pins: Style Envy

This weeks collection of pins actually have a theme for once! Yay and it's about Style!

Some people just have it! They can effortlessly throw something together and look amazing while if I tried the same thing I'd look like frumpty-dumpty!

Here are some inspiring pictures of the style I wish I could emulate(successfully).

Wishlist

Hi everyone! I can't believe I missed Friday's Fancies last week! :( I totally put off writing a paper that was due Friday so unfortunately my favorite post of the week got neglected. I hope you all can forgive me.

Since being in school I've been missing out on some vary important things!
-Reading all of your blog's posts. I feel so deprived.
-Biggest Loser!

I'm still so upset that school work got in the way of watching the Biggest Loser Premiere last week. Anyone addicted to that show like me?! Hopefully I can watch it this week but I have my first midterm coming up so we will see...

-SHOPPING(and spending money)!!
I really do miss shopping and being able to spend money on things I want. I don't really consider buying scalpels for anatomy lab very fun.

If I was working and able to spend money on things here is a list of things on my wish list at the moment.
1. None of you should be surprised that something from Lululemon is on my list. I really really want a Scuba hoodie because it's getting colder and they are so comfortable. I bought a Define jacket before school and have been loving it so next thing is a heavier jacket for winter and the freezing classrooms.
2. I really want some good looking, classy rain-boots. When it rains I always seem to look like a bum with no style(or a mirror) when it rains during school I think it's because I don't have rainboots that are versatile. When I saw these Hunter Boots from Nordstrom I knew I'd love them. Now I want them. And still can't buy them.
3. Yes, I'm lame. I want a new backpack to fit a bunch of stuff in. Dakine has some really nice ones, including some that fit a computer in. I don't take my computer to school right now because my current backpack won't fit it.
4. I posted about this watch about a week ago and still can't get it off my mind. I'm really hoping Santa thinks I've been a good to girl so I can have this beauty in my stocking...then on my wrist.
5. Don't laugh but I wish I could afford to buy Starbucks often and even second guess it like I used to. I decided that I deserve to treat myself to one a week on a day when I really need it like Thursday or Friday. The on campus Starbucks is super expensive too! What the heck?!

Did you have a good weekend? Anything on your wish list?!

Look up!

Today I'm posting about something that isn't really talked about often, that I've noticed when it comes to home design and that's the ceiling. A well done ceiling can make a room. Here are some great ones!

I know when I have my own home I want high ceilings because it makes the place look for gracious and less cramped.

What's your take on ceilings?

Wednesday's Pins

Another Wednesday is upon us! And I've been desperately needing some quality Pinterest time because school is driving me crazy!

Reason's why I know I've been studying too much:
-I didn't even know Biggest Loser premiered last night! And I had to miss it because of school work! :(
-After studying muscles of the lower leg, I grabbed a fibula out of the bone box(my anatomy lab group shares a box of bones to study) and waved it like a wand at Max and yelled "Extensor digitorum longus"....like I was in Harry Potter or something. That's when I knew it was time for bed.
-I consider Pinterest a "study break."

I loooove this color combo and will be remembering it for the future!

This has to be one of my favorite rooms I've seen! Love the colors and theme!

Anyone else dieing to make these?!

Na na na na na BAT PUG!

I hope these lifted your spirits! Because they sure did for me.

Bath for Max!

Does anybody else's dog love to lay in the dirt and sun? Because Max sure does! He just soaks up the sun and is way too cute but wayyyyyy to dirty!!

A couple weeks ago I figured it was about time to give the stinky boy a bath and take pictures, of course. He's the only dog I've had that will actually stay put outside while being bathed instead of having to be tied up.

Here are some pictures from after our bath time fun.
Running around to dry off. Love those ears!
He kind of hops like a bunny when he runs
see?!
Ready to play!!

He loves that tire!
Told you, a bunny!

Happy, clean boy!
I'm thinking of getting a kiddy pool for him to relax in on a hot day when I can't bathe him.

What a handsome boy, right?!

Friday's Fancies: Game Day Chic

Happy Friday everyone!! We made it another week! Can you believe half of September is gone already?!

Today I'm linking up with {av} at {long distance loving} again for Friday's Fancies. This week's theme is game day chic! Normally I wouldn't get too excited about this theme, since I'm not a football fan(**gasp**) but now that I go to a school with a decent team I actually know a thing or two. Just only 1 thing or 2, that's it!

Now, I know USC is in trouble with NCAA and we don't have any bowl games this year (that's the 1st thing I know) but it's still better than Cal Poly's team! And we won the past two home games(that's the 2nd thing I know).

So in honor of a decent team here is my outfit of the week. I know it's not crazy with USC pride but if I went to a game I wouldn't paint my face or anything so this outfit actually fits what I would wear.

USC

I need to invest in some Trojan gear and buy those shoes while I'm at it. I think the shoes and scarf dress up the outfit a little.

Are you a big football fan? Who's your favorite team?

Trains, Bums, and Bomb Squads

Yesterday, I promised some stories that I have collected from my month of taking the train to school everyday. Some are maybe the "had to be there" type but I hope you enjoy.

Let me start by saying that I grew up in Orange County so I'm pretty sheltered. And going into LA Union Stations makes me say to myself, "Todo, I don't think we are in Orange County anymore."

***These are my opinions and don't intend to upset or offend anyone. And these may come off as insensitive, I'm sorry if they do.***

There are bums in Orange County but not nearly as many and they never get really close. And in San Luis Obispo(where I went to college), there were maybe 4 that I saw in my 4 years. But my first bum experience in LA was on a train ride home one day. This bum wasn't just scraggly, he was an "eccentric" bum. He was wearing a shoe box for a hat that was covered in pink paper and was carrying around a big orange plastic trash bag and walking up and down the aisle. But he did have a ticket, surprisingly and wasn't causing any trouble so he stayed on the train. Now that I'm writing this I should have taken a picture.
***I have nothing against homeless people but I am just not used to them.***

After a long day at school, I'm usually pretty hungry so I totally understand if you eat snacks on the train. BUT, do not bring fried food on the train! One, it smells amazing. Two, it looks disgusting. One day a lady sat down on the train right next to me and whips out a bag of fried food. I wanted to either eat it all or throw it out the train so I didn't have to smell it but I kept to my flashcards.

The nice lady offered it to fellow train goers. Another lady asks what was in the bag so the fried food lady said "Fried onions and sweet potato fries. Have to lower my glycemic index."....Are you kidding me?! I get the sweet potatoes are better but COME ON! It's fried! Some people...
**Fun fact, did you know that one of the chemicals used for embalming(formalin) actually makes you hungry**

This next one actually terrified me.

This weekend I had been avoiding going into LA because of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. But ofcourse Monday meant school so I knew I had to go but didn't want to. I had been worrying about going to Union Station that Monday because you never know what could happen. But I dragged myself on the train and was half way to Union Station when a BOMB SQUAD walked the train with a bomb sniffing dog. Um HELP!! I totally thought I could have died that day. Then when I got to the station is was practically empty compared to all the other Monday mornings. Apparently others where scared too. So I nearly sprinted to shuttle to make the 7:50 bus to get-the-hell-outa-there. Obviously nothing happened but it still scared the shit out of me!

I hope your weeks are going well! Mine is going quickly. Not sure if that's good or bad.

Tomorrow I'll be sharing some stories from my mass transit experiences for the 1st month of school commuting by train. Let's just say I've lived a sheltered life...
