Happy Pinning!

It's finally Wednesday!! I think I'm really going to like Wednesdays for the next few weeks because I get to SLEEP IN til 7:30!!! Wooohooo! It's funny how 1 week of grad school can make 7:30 "sleeping in." Only one 4 hour lecture today!! :-)

So because it's Wednesday it's ofcourse Oh so Pinteresting Wednesday and the first 2 pins is very near and dear to my heart so I hope you enjoy. It's especially special (lol?) now because I can't make it through my 7:30 am classes without none other than COFFEE!!! FYI, I used to be a Garfield and Get Fuzzy addict back in high school.

Bib please!

I'm a little behind on the band wagon here so please forgive me for my tardiness on this post. When bib necklaces starting gaining popularity again a few months ago I didn't get it. Some were pretty, some weren't but over all my opinion towards bib necklaces were "Ehh, their alright."

Forgive me fashion gods, for I was blind. It wasn't until a week ago that I realized the genuineness of them. I doubt that designers came up with them to help people like me though. Let me explain.

I got a shirt from GAP that I absolutely love! The same style as below but in a blush color. And I even got one with white and coral stripes. That style shirt fit me perfectly! Favorite shirt status! But then....
I washed my face before bed one night with my normal face wash routine. And the product bleached the neckline of the shirt right in the center to a bright coral!! I almost cried! My face stuff has a tendency to bleach pillow cases but it NEVER bleached a shirt. And of course GAP didn't have my size anymore even of different colors.

But then the light bulb went on when I was thinking of how I could still wear the shirt and not be paranoid about the bleach stain. BIB NECKLACE!! Duh! They go down far enough to cover the neckline! Now I need to find the perfect one! Here are some fun ones!

I really like ones with stones and beads obviously!  There are some nice fabric versions out there. Maybe a DIY project?

Do you have a similar story with a favorite piece of clothing? Anyone know of another way to save my shirt?

my first DIY

Is it really Monday again?! Where the heck did the weekend go?! I had a pretty mellow weekend that was spent catching up on sleep and reviewing some of my notes from the past week.

With pinterest and reading others' blogs I've been really inspired to make something crafty myself but just didn't know what to do. Everything looked so fun and cute but I really had no use for most of the stuff I saw until....I saw a DIY chevron tray. And who doesn't need another tray to put stuff in?!

So this is for all of you Lucite and Chevron fiends out there.
I got a large stacking tray from The Container Store, spray paint, and painter's tape.
First put the tape down in the design you'd like.
Then once the design is how you want it, spray paint in on a safe surface. I did two coats.
Once it's dry carefully peel off the painter's tape! TA-DA!!!

I ended up taking a razorblade and touching it up a bit. I learned to spray from straight above and not any angles which cause the not so clean/neat spots.

Overall I'm pretty happy about how it turned out and the next one will be better. I think these kinds of things would make great, cheap gifts for friends.

Have you done any cool DIY projects lately? I'd love some more inspiration!

Friday's Fancies + White Coat

Hellooooo everyone!

I'm back in the blogging business after a little break for school! I'd like to thank my good friends Ruthie, Meg, and Hollie for helping me out the past few days! It's so great to have such amazing friends via the blogiverse.

School has been going well and it is definitely an adjustment! I don't remember undergrad being so exhausting...but then again I didn't have 4 hour lectures either. I'm meeting a lot of people and being pretty overwhelmed by the volume of information that needs to get into my brain...and actually stay there unlike undergrad!

I've been missing blogging more than I thought I would. I feel deprived that I can't check out everyone's blog like I used to but will make it a mission on the weekend to try to catch up so please forgive me if you haven't seen any comments from me lately. Does any one have any suggestions for how to balance blogging and school? lol

Alright, now to the good stuff! As usual, it's Friday's Fancies time over here! This week the theme is Weddings!! I loooove weddings and even helped out at a few weddings as a wedding planner's assistant. For this week, since I don't have any close friends getting married any time soon I decided to base my outfit around being a wedding guest.

Wedding Guest

I really love this burnt orange color paired with the jade colored jewelry. Jade is just so pretty and I wish I had more of it though Mom has a ton!! Did you know that jade is supposed to have protective powers? But I digress...

I really think adding the white purse and shoes makes the outfit a little more crisp and clean. Even though wearing white at a wedding is a no-go, shoes and purses should work fine, right? Right?

Onto other news. Yesterday my school's Doctor of Physical Therapy program had the White Coat Ceremony where the newbies, like me, get our super sweet white coats. The ceremony is supposed to symbolize our transition into the physical therapy profession now and not just when we graduate. So I have a cool new white coat!
Ooooohhhh yeahhhhh!
Me and the boyfriend before the ceremony :)
The parents!

With my schnazzy new coat! Fight On!!

So professional right?!
It was pretty cool to have a ceremony at the beginning of a school program rather than just at the end. The ceremony got all of us even more stoked for what is a head of us, and slightly terrified at the same time. The next three years will be long and challenging but I'm still excited to get closer to becoming a PT.

For the weekend I plan on exercising(since I only did once this week) and hitting the books. Exciting right?

What are your plans for the weekend?! I hope your doing something more fun than I am! :-p

Guest Post: Hollie Takes Notes

Last but certainly not least, Hollie from hollie takes notes is my last guest poster this week. She is hilarious so I hope you go check out her blog. I always look forward to reading hers so I'm thrilled she agreed to take over my blog today. I'll be back tomorrow with an update on my week, including my White Coat Ceremony from today, and another installment of Friday's Fancies! Go for it Hollie!

Hi Becca's friends! I'm Hollie and I'm a style blogger that writes about well, stuff I like ;) You can come say hi (which I'd love!) here!

The end of summer is coming to a close and a lot of us are going back to school. Maybe you're still studying for your undergraduate. Maybe you're getting your masters. Maybe you're getting a certificate to increase your opportunity in the workplace. Or maybe you're taking a class for fun. If you're studying at all you need some fun little stuff to keep you organized and sane.

Here are my favorites...

A cute bag or backpack:

Comfy Shoes:

Something to make you smile:

Colorful Pens:

An awesome planner:

Something for a rainy day:
A gift card to yourself so you'll have peace of mind when your head is about to explode.

What are your favorite things for staying organized and sane while studying?

Thank you Becca for allowing me to guest post on your blog! I had so much fun doing this! You're so sweet :)

No Hollie, thank you for helping me out!! I'm saying thank goodness for Starbucks this week because it's helping me transition into school mode. Hooray for coffee!! And I wish I'd seen those herringbone TOMS when I was looking to buy my own TOMS. Those are way cuter than the plain navy ones.

Guest Post: henning love

Happy Wednesday! Today Meg from henning love is commandeering my blog for me. As some of you know, I recently had the pleasure of meeting Meg in person and I'm glad to have her as a blogger friend and real life friend too. It's all yours Meg!
***********
Hi everyone, I'm Meg of henning love and happy to help out Becca as she is starting graduate school this week. Good luck at school today Becca, and wishing you best of luck and I know you are looking cute with that school bag you posted recently.

Last week I was graciously blessed by some homemade veggies by my wonderful friend, Cat of 30+ means growing up or does it? She has a little backyard garden and she gave me a zucchini, some tomatoes, an eggplant and some squash. Of course I had to make some zucchini bread and I thought I would share with you all here the recipe I used with some photos. Let me preface this recipe with I love citrus zest in any dish, seriously my zester that I got from my wedding registry is my best friend in the kitchen. Ok on to the recipe :-)

First gather your ingredients. You need 3 eggs, 2 cups white sugar, 1 cup vegetable oil, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 2 cups grated zucchini, 1 cup chopped walnuts, 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, 1 tablespoon orange zest, 3 cups all purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon nutmeg.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Beat three eggs together in your mixer so they are light and fluffy.

Then add the sugar, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, grated zucchini, walnuts, chocolate chips and orange zest.

Mix these ingredients together well. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon
and nutmeg into your mixer.

Combine the dry ingredients and wet ingredients together well. In your greased 9X5 bread loaf pan, pour in the batter, you will have enough batter for two loaves. Bake the bread for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Then slice, eat and enjoy!
I was giving some away to my friend who gave me the zucchini so I decorated it cute to give it to her!

********
Thanks Meg! Those look sooooo good!! Chocolate? Sign me up! Anyone else want to go get some zucchini right now too?

Guest Post: The Chronicles of Ruthie Hart

Good morning all!! To get used to school for a few days I'm having 3 lovely ladies take over my blog. I'm super excited to have them help me out. Today Ruthie from The Chronicles of Ruthie Hart is baby sitting my blog for me. I really wish I lived closer to her so we could meet up. She's so fun and I hope you'll love her too! Take it away girl!
************

Hello A Blonde’s Logic readers! I am the  brunette behind The Chronicles of Ruthie Hart.

Yep that’s me. Ruthie Hart. I am a 20-something newlywed loving life in Austin, TX with my Ohio native hubby, Jon and our chunky French bulldog, Ernie.

So you are probably wondering what the heck summer beer is after reading the title of this post? Summer beer is the most potent and delicious summer drink you will ever throw back. I learned of this amazing concoction from one of my girlfriends and boy is it something. Summer beer is a mixture of lime-aide, beer and vodka (gasssp!). The pictures below were the product of too much summer beer…

WARNING: Disturbing picture below! We hosted a Wig Party for my hubby’s 28th birthday in April. After midnight, the party turned into a fake-mustache dance party. Confused? Check it out here. Ha!

Have I completely scared you?

Yay! You’re still here! For your drunken pleasure, I’ve posted the recipe below.

Ingredients
1 can frozen limeade
Vodka
3-4 beers

1. Pour the frozen limeade can into a pitcher (do not prepare according to the can)
2. Pour vodka into the empty limeade can and add to the pitcher
3. Stir in 3-4 beers of your choice
4. Enjoy!

I am NOT a beer girl at all (my mom says I will like it with age!) but I am a summer beer girl. You can’t taste the beer (or vodka) at all! Wait, maybe that’s why it is so potent!

I’d love for you to stop by my blog and check out some of my wedding related posts, delicious recipes and ramblings of my perfectly-imperfect life!

Xoxo,

Ruthie

Thanks again for helping Ruthie!! I can't wait to try the recipe! Those pictures are priceless!!

Past few days

Is it really Monday again?! That came wayyyyy to soon! So a lot has been going on with me so here's what's been up with me. :)

Thursday, as you all know by now, was my first day of orientation for PT School at USC.
This photo was taken at 6 am and my camera obviously isn't good at taking mirror pictures, hence why I look like a creep. This was prior to make-up... I swear I ended up looking cute!

Starbucks was very necessary! My grande soy latte helped get me to school. And I got there an hour an a half early!!! Apparently there is no traffic in LA at 6am. lol After school, having dinner with about 15 classmates, and driving home I was pooped! And of course had to get up again the next day. Luckily Friday's orientation was a few hours shorter!

Saturday I went to lunch to catch up with a friend then bought some new running shoes. I don't know about you but when it's time for new shoes I feel it in my knees. I believe in getting shoes from a running shoe store and my favorite is A Snail's Pace.
I went with Brooks Ghost 4. My feet feel the best in Brooks shoes especially Ghosts, I've had 3 out of the 4 models. Ascics is my next favorite but Brooks are definitely my tried and true shoe. And they keep getting prettier! :)

Sunday was spent getting everything put together for school. Aka running around like a crazy woman. :)

How was your weekend? Do anything fun?!
